About Wodenschiere Country Club

The Wodenschiere Country Club is a Bern Township Pool and a "members only" organization. We are open for new membership Now! Wodenschiere does not have a "pay as you swim" or "general admission" policy. Wodenschiere requires that its members pay annual dues. Wodenschiere requires each member (or member family) to purchase a "share" of the organization in order to have voting privileges in the organization.

However; stock purchase is no longer required to join the club and enjoy the full use of the facilities! You may join Wodenschiere without purchasing stock!

Wodenschiere is most widely known for it's large swimming pool and nearly six acres of quiet, wooded surroundings. In fact, this is why most members join. The 222,700 gallon, 6137 sq. feet (approx.) pool is by far the most appealing factor in Wodenschiere membership. The pool ranges from 3 to 12 feet (depth) and has (2) diving boards. There is also a "kiddee pool" or wading pool that is 780 sq. feet (approx.) and holds 4250 gallons of water. The wooded surroundings provide the opportunity for shaded picnics. The grassy area surrounding the pool is perfect for sunbathing or relaxing in your own lawn chair. There is a concession stand available. The club also offers facilities for private parties (ex. birthdays/special events). Contact any board member (or manager Matt Stumhofer) for more info re: private parties.

Wodenschiere is open (weather permitting) from noon until 8 pm. There are family (moonlight) swims held thru-out the season. Family swims (after hours/small fee charged) mean that the pool is open later than usual. There are Camp out Nights held throughout the season. Overnight camping is permitted for a nominal fee (usually includes Moonlight Swim, Morning Swim, and Continental Breakfast). There are also special holiday hours and activities. Check the bulletin board for the upcoming family swims, camp outs and special holiday hours.

Wodenschiere also offers swimming lessons by a certified swim instructor, and also we have a swim team. E-mail Coach Matt Stumhofer for more info. Membership on the swim team is open to all members, and we offer friendly competition with other area pools. Wodenschiere is proud to belong to the Berks County Swimming Association (BCSA). We compete in the Arctic Division. Regular meets are scheduled for each Monday night thru-out the season, and we also participate in invitational meets held thru-out the season and the area. The swim team is an excellent program offered by Wodenschiere and also a lot of fun for all swimmers.

The Wodenschiere swimming pool is ALWAYS supervised by a trained, certified lifeguard. Lifeguards are always on duty, and we are proud of our highly professional lifeguard staff.

In addition to the swimming pool, Wodenschiere offers 6 acres of wooded picnic grounds, playground, soccer field, as well as volleyball, badminton, and beanbag toss. Sports equipment (ex. balls and bean bags) are available for member use.

Members may bring guests to the facility. Guest rates are $5 per guest (weekdays) and $6 per guest (week-ends and holidays). 50% discount after 5 p.m. (non-refundable). Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times. Group rates available upon request.
